I’m not very good at doing the Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2014 tag in the right month, but at least I get them done! This weekend I caught up with the September, October and November tag.
It was nice to spend an afternoon playing in my studio, trying out new techniques and getting out some old favourites that I haven’t playing with in a while.
I love the butterfly ‘hair’ on the, both the colours and the effect. I used the Imagine If… Aly, Sam and Sidney Stencil for the face, inking through it with Archival Ink, and I decided to balance the tag a little by putting some small butterflies at the bottom of the tag too.
Tim’s October Tag was Halloween themed, but as I don’t do Halloween I decided to use the same techniques with one of my favourite subjects – shoes! I have a lovely stamp set from Hero Arts called High Heels, so I used the stamps from this to create the masking technique and the shoe coloured with Distress Markers. The stencil is a very versatile one from Imagine If… used with Whipped Spackle.
The November Tag is one of my favourites! I didn’t have the embossing and die set, so I used my clock die instead – I cut the outer shape from the cardboard and the inside detail I cut from some packaging and glued to the tag instead of embossing. As it is spring not autumn here I used some pretty spring colours of paint, matching it with a yellow edged rickrack, and I finished it off with a Wooden Veneer Arrow from PaperVine painted with some Distress Paint.
From now (1 December) until Christmas Eve I’m planning to complete Tim Holtz 12 Tags of Christmas 2011, that means one every two days which should be manageable! So check back here to seem my progress.
