Wow, it is so long since I wrote a blog post! Not that I haven’t been creating, just not blogging about it… I thought I’d share with you my latest love, creating mini houses with the Tim Holtz Village dies. These dies come with the base buildings – the Dwelling and the Brownstone; then you can buy addon dies with additional structures and decorations (like window frames and fence).
I’ve started making a little village street! The two houses use the Village Dwelling die, and the church uses the Brownstone.
This first little house I used Distress Oxides to create the colour on the boards and roof tiles, then layered them onto the house. I created the grass, path, porch and door using Distress Oxides too.
The dormer windows and fence come from the Bungalow die, and the tree was cut from the Landscape die from a thin chipboard before being painted. I then added a little swing to the tree.
The second little house also has Distress Oxide to colour the roof tiles and, this time, the bricks.
The shutters and fence also came from the Bungalow die, and the tree is from the Landscape die.
The little church uses the Bell Tower addon, and for the weather boards I painted white cardstock white (!).
The roof is made from corrugated card. I coloured the window frames using a Distress Markers to match the roof. For this one I decided to put edges on the corners to finish it off.
I’m loving making these little houses, and have some planned for Christmas…so keep an eye out!
