Tag and Tray

Hope you’ve had a great weekend, just thought I’d share a couple of things I’ve bee doing.  The first is my version of Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2015 February Tag.

02 February 2015 Tag

I did the base using Tim’s technique of collage, then added Picket Fence Distress Paint, and edged with smudged Black Soot Distress Marker.  For the frame, I coloured some white cardstock with Barn Door and a little Brushed Pewter Distress Stain, onto this I stuck an epoxy frame and trimmed around it.  Then I handcut a felt heart and stitched it on with silver thread.  I then added a Love key from the PaperVine Silver Key Word Duo Set, a piece of lace, and a heart button on a chipboard oval (also coloured with Distress Stains).  Finally, the ribbon was also coloured with Distress Stain.

The next thing I was to show you is a combined project between my DH and me – a Glue Tray.  I know that having my bottles of glue stored upsidedown means that I get the most out of them, and I discovered that unused screwcaps from wine bottling (that were being recycled) are the perfect size and depth, just a little wobbly!  I then headed to a local engineering shop and bought some large nuts that fit in the bottom of the caps to add weight.  While at The Warehouse I found a chopping board that was just the right size.

I measured it up, including a space for my hot glue gun so that it wouldn’t fall over while heating.  I made appropriate marks on the board, then handed it over to my DH with instructions!  He drilled, screwed, hammered and cut, and created my amazing and very useful Glue Tray.

I’ll be back soon with another Imagine If… project, meanwhile I’d love to hear what you think of these projects.
