So this year I’ve started on the right track to get the 12 Tags of 2013 completed – I’ve done January. The original tag by Tim Holtz was not seasonal (other than the ribbon), so I didn’t need to make many changes – just adjust for the tools he used that I don’t have. I started out by embossing the large tag with a circles folder, added Distress Ink colour to it, coloured the cogs I cut with Distress Stains (the new metallic ones are cool), and stamped a saying. I also cut a ticket shape and added black around the edges then stamped the pointing hand on that. The other difference for my tag was the ribbon, I don’t own the months stamps so I used the word ‘January’ and the year on my ribbon, giving a similar (slightly less grunge) look.
I also finished off a tag inspired by Tim Holtz October 2012 Tag. On this he uses alcohol inks to colour Distress Stickles Dry Glitter, but as I didn’t have any of this, I used clear microbeads instead; and as I don’t do Halloween, I changed the theme and colours to be more spring-like. I used the same techniques – paint and a shimmer spray ink on the background, and covering my shape in the alcohol ink coloured item, but it is much more my pretty style!
Hopefully I’ll be able to keep up this momentum and continue to do a tag each month in 2013.
