As promised, here are the first two tags from Tim Holtz 12 Tags of Christmas 2011 that I’m doing over December this year.
I love Tag number 1, all the gorgeous greenery and the pinecones with the glitter above! I reduced the wintery look a bit with a swirl embossing folder rather than snowflakes, and I used an Imagine If… Flourish Frame with some letters cut with my Cuttlebug. I painted the pieces first, the frame in Distress Paint Brushed Pewter and Distress Paint Festive Berries, then I covered them in Distress Glitter Clear Rock Candy over the pewter coloured frame, and Festive Berries over the letters. The greenery was mainly from the Tattered Pinecone die, in different colours, and I used a packet of pearl beads to add to the tag.
For Tag number 2 I used a background of resist canvas, I thought this tied in nicely with the Imagine If… Running Reindeer I covered with sticky backed canvas, distressed and inked. I stamped ‘Merry Christmas’ using Hero Arts CL343 Holiday Sayings with Distress Ink Pine Needles, and I used my Imagine If… Joy & Peace Stencil with inks to create the holly on the top left. I think the hammered brads in the painted border look very cool, and the burlap tie at the top just finishes it off.
It is nice to be making time to create tags, using different techniques, products I already have, and some Imagine If… products, check back tomorrow evening to see my Imagine If… project for this week, and I’ll be bringing you more tags between now and Christmas.
