Not long until Christmas now, and only a week until December and I can start my Advent Calendars – I love Advent Calendars, I love counting down, having a little something to do every day, and so when I go this gorgeous MDF tree from Imagine If, I knew I would use it to add to my Advent Calendar collection!
I started out by covering the tree with BoBunny Tis The Season Fa La La, an old collection but still one of my favourite Christmas papers. I inked the edges of the tree in Brilliance Pearlescent Chocolate, and the slid the pieces together. For the star I used some of my shiny gold paper and added Kindy Glitz for some sparkle.
I then set about making the ‘baubles’, I used Cuttlebug Baby Face alphabet set which comes with circular tags, I cut these out of the same paper as I’d cover the tree (the reverse is the brown with dots), and I cut numbers out of BoBunny Tis The Season Treasure – the pretty turquoise. I also cut tags with the shiny gold paper and stuck them back to back with the brown tags so I had double-sided baubles.
Next I needed to decorate my baubles.
I got out some small chipboard shapes, some Christmas themed and some not, I used: Stars, a candle, a Koru from Koru Set, Christmas Quote sheet (for the ‘Joy’), Candy cane from Gingerbread and Candy Canes Set, Heart from Set of Hearts, Apple from Cooking Set, and a small holly leaves from Holly Set. I coloured these using Distress Stains, then added glitter glue and liquid pearls to Christmas them up a bit. A 1″ circle punch fits nicely inside this tag with a border, so I used that to cut out the ‘Joy’ from the Quotes Sheet.
I also found some little Felt flowers which I added a small red button into the centre of before attaching to the bauble.
Next I got out my Christmas washi, sticking it across some white cardstock and punching out a 1″ circle, then adding Glossy Accents to the top, I used Red Baubles washi, Silver Baubles washi, SuperStar (Silver) washi, and OOhhh – Presents washi.
I also got out some of the cute little products from PaperVine, Metal Flowers (Red), Christmas Buttons, Trinkets: Christmas Selection (Silver) and Christmas Selection (Bronze), and Pearl Stars (Christmas Mix).
I needed hooks for all these lovely decorations, so a trip to the hardware store was in order, I found some little eyelets that DH was able to adjust into hooks for me and I screwed them into the tree. Which is now ready and waiting for Monday 1 December.
Next stop on this hop is Lilian and her Christmas Tree, don’t forget to leave me a comment and tell me what you think before you hop off!
