Happy New Year! I hope you’ve had a great break and feel refreshed for the new year. Rather than making Resolutions each year, I like to make goals for the year and document them in a mini book. This year I made a pretty pink book.
I started out with papers from My Minds Eye Abbey Road Whirly Bird collections: Shine, Best Friends, and Sunshine Girl, I love the colours as well as the textures and weights of these papers. I cut my pages 4″x6″, cutting double pages so I could create pockets. For the front and back covers I cut acetate.
Then I headed to my sewing machine which just happened to have the perfect green thread already in there! I sewed the acetate on to the paper for the front cover, then sewed each of the other pages around three sides and then split into three pockets.
Once I had done this I bound the book with my Zutter, and then created three tags for each page.
This year, I have decided to have a Word of the Month, something I want to focus on each month. For January it is Scrapping. I wanted to document these, so I created two pages at the front, with a line of stitches across the middle to separate it into six. I also added tags to these pages so I can reflect on how it went. The tags were also split into two with a line of stitches, and I stamped each month so I can easily fill them in during the year.
For the goals, I split them into different categories, titling each one, and then splitting the tag into three so I can reflect during the year on how the goals are going or changing (it is okay for things to change during the year – life happens, plans and ideas change and improve).
The final touch was some flowers, I had some pretty little white ones in my stash that I coloured with Lindy’s Stamp Gang sprays: Wild Honeysuckle Coral, Merry-Go-Round Green, and Alpine Ice Rose – perfect for my mini book!
Do you do New Years crafts? What kind of things do you do? I’d love to hear about them.
